mellow, optomistic, and greatful half the time.
busy, stressed, and fidgety the other half.
I'm not used to mood swings, but I'm convinced that the week before finals can do anything to a person.

Back in Boston Again

Well, it was nice to go home. I really needed to get away from all the stress up here at school. And even if I didn't get a proper Thanksgiving dinner, I did have homemade lasagna, tabouli, hummus, pecan pie, and brownies. And that's almost as good. I also got to spend time with family and old friends. Mmmm.... (And I read a whole book in one day yesterday-made me feel like myself again) (Life with Jeeves, if you were curious) It is also really nice to be back early. Especially in the morning, when no one is awake even out of the few people who are here. I woke up at 7:30 this morning without an alarm, and it was beautiful. I discovered the yummiest thing for breakfast ever: mix in two spoonfuls of peanut butter per cup of oatmeal after the oatmeal is cooked. It is especially nice if you make the oatmeal with some apple juice/cider instead of water. I do it with Kashi instant oatmeal with rasins, and it is delicious!

Yesterday, I decided that I wanted to walk the two miles back from the commuter rail to school. With my bags. In the freezing cold weather. It was awesome! Sure, there was a point 3/4 of the way through the walk when I was sure I was crazy, but it felt really good. I was plenty warm, there was a sidewalk almost the entire way, and I'm not even sore today.

And now I think I'll do some homework....:)

Poem Without A Category - Gensei (1623-1668)

Trailing my stick I go down to the garden edge,
call to a monk to go out the pine gate.
A cup of tea with my mother,
looking at each other, enjoying our tea together.
In the deep lanes, few people in sight;
the dog barks when anyone comes or goes.
Fall floods have washed away the planks of the bridge;
shouldering our sandals, we wade the narrow stream.
By the roadside, a small pavilion
where there used to be a little hill:
it helps out our hermit mood;
country poems pile one sheet on another.
I dabble in the flow, delighted by the shallowness of the stream,
gaze at the flagging, admiring how firm the stones are.
The point in life is to know what's enough--
why envy those otherworld immortals?
With the happiness held in one inch-square heart
you can fill the whole space between heaven and earth.

I forgot everything about my other account, so I got a new one! Perhaps I'll write something interesting, even bookworthy, in an entry soon. But not right now.
